Beech Mountain NC
For many, Beech Mountain NC is a place full of awe-inspiring beauty and an outdoor wonderland with an endless array of activity possibilities. Known for being the highest incorporated town east of the Mississippi River, Beech Mountain sits high in the Western North Carolina Mountains, in area called the High Country, with an elevation of 5,506 ft.

Historically, Beech Mountain got its start as a private resort community in the 1960’s developed by Grover and Harry Robbins and 35 other investors. The original plan for Beech Mountain was to be a planned second home mountain community where owners could retreat to, however in 1981 the town became incorporated.

With four distinct seasons, and a resort atmosphere, Beech Mountain is a great place to enjoy an NC Mountain Vacation. Loaded with fun mountain attractions and friendly townspeople, vacationers and residents never run out of things to do.

Home to Ski Beech ski resort, one of the best ski resorts in the area, and also Beech Mountain Golf Club, the town of Beech Mountain is a great place to visit year round. Known for cool summers, and snowy winters the area’s climate gives way to a plethora of outdoor fun with each season. In the fall, visitors to the area enjoy looking at the gorgeous leaves that cause the mountain sides to explode with color after changing to reds, yellows, and oranges.

Beech Mountain is also within a very short driving distance of mountain attractions like Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns, Linville Falls, the many gem mine attractions in the High Country, and Tweetsie Railroad. For those looking for a quick NC mountain getaway, or a family vacation packed with plenty of fun things to do in the High Country, Beech Mountain has something for everyone.
